Using the Data

This page explains what you may do with the data that SynthEvents generates, and what it is: synthetic data, without any personal data.

License#

The data that SynthEvents generates is released under CC0 1.0. You may use, change, and pass it on for any purpose, without attribution. This holds for the ready-made data sets of the product page and for every data set you generate with the API.

Synthetic Data#

Every data set is the result of a simulation. There is no real library behind it, no real user of a to-do list, and no real pottery studio, so the data contains no personal data:

  • Readers, users, and customers appear only as references with a random UUID, such as /readers/<uuid>.
  • Bookings are filed under a code drawn at random, such as B3R2J5.
  • The to-dos are errands from the scenario's own lists, which name no people, places, or brands.
  • The titles of the books are composed of the scenario's own words, and the titles of the courses come from the scenario's own repertoire.
  • The names of authors come from a generator of names. A name may by chance equal the name of a real person, which does not mean that person.

The figures of the scenarios are set by hand and coarsely, so that the data is plausible. Those of the to-dos and the courses follow evaluations of real to-dos and of the bookings of a real studio, of which no figure, name, title, or text is kept. The data is no measurement of any real library, studio, or person, though, and tells you nothing about them.
