# seed-missing

The request names **no seed**.

- **Status:** `400 Bad Request`
- **Route:** `POST /api/v1/generate-events`
- **Description:** `seed is missing: expected 1 to 64 of a-z, 0-9, and -`
- **Details:** Empty.

## Why It Happens

The body has no field `seed`, or its value is `null`. The seed is mandatory and has **no default**, since it decides which data set you get (see **[The Seed](/docs/synthevents/generating-data-sets#the-seed)**).

## How to Fix It

Add the field `seed`, with 1 to 64 characters of `a` to `z`, `0` to `9`, and `-`. Choose one that says what the data set is for:

```

The standard data sets of the product page use the seed `standard`; with it, and with the domain, scenario, range, and event count of one of them, you get that very data set.
