# event-count-too-high

The request asks for **more than 20,000 events**.

- **Status:** `422 Unprocessable Entity`
- **Route:** `POST /api/v1/generate-events`
- **Description:** `event count is too high: expected at most 20000`
- **Details:** **`value`**, the number as the request gave it.

## Why It Happens

`eventCount` is larger than 20,000. A data set comes out within a tolerance of the number asked for, which may lie above it, and it has to fit the **25,000 events** of an **[evaluation license](/docs/eventsourcingdb/limits)** of EventSourcingDB all the same (see **[Limits](/docs/synthevents/generating-data-sets#limits)**).

## How to Fix It

Ask for at most 20,000 events.

For an `eventCount` of `25000`, SynthEvents answers:
